Why choose lighting design?

I am often asked during meetings and interviews why I chose to pursue a career in lighting design, especially considering that, even today, Italy has only a few professional studios specializing in this field. The answer lies, with great sincerity, in my family background and in everything I observed, absorbed, and experienced at the time, still unconsciously. My father, known by many in the Milanese architecture world, worked as an agent for some of the most important Italian lighting brands.

I remember that lamps, catalogs, and this magical “luminous” world were an active part of my childhood. They still are today, thanks to the world of lighting design and my role as a designer, with the awareness that the true challenge lies in enhancing architecture, creating atmospheres and visual suggestions, while contributing to comfort, emotions, and well-being through light.

It is from this emotional, rational, and conscious heritage that Voltaire Lighting Design was born. One day, the lighting design profession in Italy will have many protagonists shaping the future of light, and I will be able to say: I was there… almost from the beginning.
